Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. She covered many notable issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
